Classic Accessories 5th Wheel Skirt Installation Instructions Instructions:5thWheel Skirt Important! Before Fitting!
If at all possible, do step 1 & 2 one or two days before hanging the skirt.
This will to allow the adhesive on the hook and loop to fully cure, resulting
in a stronger bond. Complete Illustrated instructions are included with each 5th Wheel Skirt Cover.
Installation
1. Pull the entire length of adhesive backed loop tape off
the hook tape at the top of your skirt. Figure out the length of loop tape you
will need by carefully measuring the underside front and side sections of the
5th wheel overhang. Keep in mind that it is not necessary for the loop tape
to be mounted at the very outside edge of the overhang. Save any extra sections
of loop tape for use later in step 4.
2. Trim the loop tape to the proper lengths for each section
of the overhang. Before applying, make sure surface is clean and dry. Start
applying the loop tape by peeling back an inch or so of the backing to expose
the adhesive. Then while holding the strip horizontally, align it along the
bottom of the overhang and slowly peel off the backing as you press the strip
against the overhang. Repeat with the remaining areas of the overhang. Using
a small wood block or piece of cardboard press the strips firmly down along
their entire length. Wait one or two days for the glue to cure before proceeding.
3. Unfold your skirt and find the center front cutout for the
trailering tongue. Start fitting your skirt to the overhang on either side of
the tongue by matching up the hook tape on the top edge of the skirt to the
loop tape applied to the underside of the overhang. Press the two firmly together,
07cR59_013 working all the way around the front and the sides of the overhang.
4. Next, find the ends of your skirt. Depending on the size
of the overhang on your 5th wheel RV, there might be some extra length of skirt.
This extra length is designed to fold back on itself and attach to the top section
of your skirt with the extra loop tape from step 1 . Apply a section of saved
loop tape to the inside of the skirt starting at the fold, going toward the
front of the overhang. Fold back any extra length of skirt back on itself toward
the inside of the overhang and secure to the newly applied section of loop tape
at the top of your skirt.
5. Finish the fitting of your skirt to the overhang of your
5th wheel RV by snugging up the center cutout section of the skirt to the trailering
tongue. Secure the hook and loop tape on both sides of the cutout section so
it fits against the bottom of the tongue.
6. Locate the stakes that are included with your skirt. Locate
the webbing loops along the bottom hem of your skirt. Insert one stake per loop.
Gently pull the stake and loop outward from the overhang so it is snug but not
tight. Place the tip of the stake on the ground and tap into the ground using
a hammer or rubber mallet. Since soil conditions vary, it is important not to
force the stakes into hard ground as they could splinter or break. Care must
be taken not to over-tighten the webbing loops as it could pull the skirt off
the loop tape on the overhang.
Use and Storage Your skirt has side panels that can be unzipped
and rolled up for easy access to the space below the overhang. To roll up first
remove any installed stakes. Then unzip and roll up the panel. Secure with the
hook and loop straps found at the top of each side panel of your skirt.
Care Spot clean with water, a mild soap and a sponge. Don’t
use abrasive cleaners or brushes.
